Letter from SAWS, your water and sewage rates are going up.

Dear Valued SAWS Customer,The SAWS Board of Trustees and San Antonio City Council approved changes to SAWS' water and sewer rate structure and rates for 2016 and 2017.

The approved rate adjustment will average 7.5 percent in 2016, or about $3.90 on the average residential bill after restructuring. In 2017, the maximum adjustment will be 7.9 percent, which is approximately $4.37 for the average residential customer.

Customers who are low water users will actually see a total price decrease in their bill of 9.2 percent, or $1.32, thanks to the approved rate structure change.

The rate adjustment will help pay for new water supply projects, sewer system improvements required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other capital improvement projects.
