Howdy Neighbors,
I hope that you all are staying healthy and at home
as much as possible. This is an unprecedented time for San
Antonio and the rest of the world. I want to take this
opportunity to thank all of the individuals who are working to
support our city during this time. Whether you are a healthcare,
construction or restaurant professional - or anything in between,
we are so grateful for your continued support and hard work.
On April 28, Governor Greg Abbott
rolled out Phase 1 of Texas’ ongoing plan to strategically and
safely open. Certain services and activities are able to open,
but must limit their capacity to 25%. This strategic approach
prioritizes the health and safety of our communities and follows
the guidelines of medical experts. To read the full Report to

Metro Health continues to provide up-to-date
information and resources for our residents on their website. The numbers are updated daily at 7:00 PM. Mayor
Nirenberg and Judge Wolff give nightly updates at 6:13 PM on
TVSA. TVSA can be seen on the following video providers: Spectrum
Cable Channel 21, Grande Cable Channel 20, AT&T U-verse
Channel 99, Digital Antenna Channel 16.1 and online at www.sanantonio.gov/tvsa

Neighbors, it is with deep sadness that I am sharing
the news of the passing of Connie Marszalek. Connie passed away
on Saturday, April 18. She was a longtime neighborhood leader in
Feather Ridge. She served as one of District 10's liaisons to our
Boards and Commissions and was very active in the Northeast
Neighborhood Alliance. Connie worked tirelessly with the District
10 City Council Office with at least five members over the years
on key issues. We will truly miss Connie's dedication to our
community and ask that everyone keep her husband, Mitch, and
their loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.

Mayor's
Sixth Emergency Order
|
|
|
|
The Mayor issued his sixth emergency declaration on
April 29:
· All businesses operating within San Antonio and
Bexar County, except essential services and reopened services as
defined by Governor Abbott’s Executive Order GA-18 are required
to stop operations and close.
· Continuing measures to limit the spread of COVID-19
in nursing homes, like prohibiting employees from working at
multiple long-term care facilities.
· Strongly advising that you wear face coverings where
you cannot employ social distancing.
This order will last until 11:59
PM on May 19, or until it is either rescinded, superseded or
amended.

Councilman
Perry Votes Against Mayor's Sixth Emergency Declaration
|

City Council voted 10-1 to extend the current
Declaration of Public Health Emergency issued by Mayor Ron
Nirenberg on April 30. The following statement was released in
response to that decision:
“The safety and well-being of San Antonians and our
visitors is, and will continue to be, a top priority of mine.
However, I could not support a plan that deviates from that of
Governor Abbott. Consistent with Executive Order GA-18 issued by
Governor Greg Abbott, “a civil or criminal penalty will not be
imposed on persons who do not wear a cloth face covering, but
they should consider the health and safety of their neighbor as
they leave their homes for essential activities”
San Antonians are taking this pandemic seriously,
and I believe that most people will voluntarily wear masks to
mitigate the risks of contracting and spreading COVID-19.
Governor Abbott’s Executive Order clearly states that no locality
can enforce penalties for non-compliance. By not aligning with
the State, the City's order will continue to cause confusion for
San Antonians. I could not support a mandate that is
unenforceable.”

Battle of the Flowers in Oak Park Northwood, many neighbors
throughout District 10 have come together (at a safe social
distance) to show just how strong our community is. Thank you for
sharing your joy with us.
