Thank you to all who attended our District 10
Community Meeting last night. I know that summer is an especially
busy time for everyone, and I appreciate you all participating in
last night's meeting. We heard updates from David McCary, Director of
Solid Waste Management, Isabel Ramos-Lebron, Wellness Education
Manager of the San Antonio Food Bank, Doug Thomas, Representative
(Lion) from the Texas Lions Camp and Phil Bakke, the District 10
Representative on the Alamo Citizen Advisory Committee.
Mr. Bakke shared information about the
upcoming public meetings regarding the Alamo Interpretive Plan. If you would like to be a part of the proposed
site plan and design strategies for the Alamo, attend these meetings.
Your input matters. Information regarding these meetings can be found
below.
As a friendly reminder, we have monthly community meetings at
the Tool Yard on the third Monday
of every month at 7 PM (unless it falls on a holiday). These meetings
alternate hosting duties between the District 10 Office and the
Northeast Neighborhood Alliance. These meetings are open to all.
This Thursday, June 21st, is the International Day of Yoga and
District 10 is celebrating by hosting two free yoga classes in the
district. These classes will be held at the Julia Yates Semmes Branch
Library and the Northeast Senior Center. These classes are open to
all skill levels, but you must register to attend. To register for
the class at the Julia Yates Semmes Branch Library, click here.
To register for the class a the Northeast Senior Center, click here.
We are partnering with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office to
bring you all a free Civilian Response to Active Shooter Training
session on July 9th. This event will take place at the Thousand Oaks Branch Library from
6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Space for this event is limited, so we ask that
you register here
if you wish to attend.
SAWS has announced that Stage 2 drought
restrictions are in place. Watering with an irrigation system is only
allowed once a week between 7-11 a.m. or 7-11 p.m. and is
determined by the last digit of your address. The schedule is as
follows: Addresses ending in a 0 or 1 can water on Monday, 2 or 3 on
Tuesday, 4 or 5 on Wednesday, 6 or 7 on Thursday, 8 or 9 on Friday.
Hand watering is allowed at any time. For more information,
As some of you may know, Council will be on break in July.
However, both staff and myself will be available to you.
As always, thank you for being active community members and
leaders here in District 10, and do not hesitate to contact our
office if we can be of any assistance to you.
